The Gail Cail Millerick Endowed Scholarship - This bequest will allow future students to achieve their dreams of a USJ education

When Gail Millerick was serving as assistant vice president at The United Way in 1998, she learned about the University of Saint Joseph's Weekend College program, and knew it was her chance to fulfill a long-held dream.

Though she had already earned an associate degree, Millerick wanted more. The Weekend College's flexible schedule made it possible for her, at age 52, to return to school and earn her bachelor's degree. From Sister Mary Joan Cook's encouragement as an advisor to non-traditional students, to Professor Dorothy Keller, who brought art history to life in her classes, Millerick treasures her days as a USJ student.

Now semi-retired and recently widowed, Millerick found herself looking back on the transformative power of that USJ experience. While updating her will, she realized she could do something to help others achieve their dreams too - she established a bequest to support the Gail Cail Millerick Endowed Scholarship at the University of Saint Joseph. The $25,000 endowment will eventually provide significant funding for USJ scholarships in perpetuity.

"I cherished my time at Saint Joe's," Millerick said. "I believe deeply in the University, its values, and the enrichment its education provides for every student who walks through those doors, and I realized I could create a legacy that would impact future generations."
